Cities of Ruin, The Progressive Destruction of America

One distinct and indisputable advantage science holds over rhetoric is that is it measurable. Statistically, Americans don’t need to look further than cities run by political Democrats to see the effects of failed liberal leadership. Whether it is violent crime, high pollution, increased poverty, or struggling literacy, the largest cities with the greatest downfalls are all led by Democrats. This is substantiated by verifiable data that has been collected and reported by various private and public enterprises.

It should come as little surprise that a party which legislates impulsively by reaction and emotion would have such destructive results. Unfortunately, that failed leadership comes at a high cost for their constituents and every other citizen held hostage by the Democrats’ prioritization of dogmatic ideology over the health, safety, and prosperity of their electorate.

Crime

Earlier this year, Forbes wrote a piece on the most dangerous cities in America. The article extrapolated on not only the mortality of crime, but also the cost of that crime to its respective communities. The article ranked the following cities as the most dangerous in America, and all are led by Democrats:

  1. St. Louis, Missouri
  2. Jackson, Mississippi
  3. Detroit, Michigan
  4. New Orleans, Louisiana
  5. Baltimore, Maryland
  6. Memphis, Tennessee
  7. Cleveland, Ohio
  8. Baton Rouge, Louisiana
  9. Kansas City, Missouri
  10. Shreveport, Louisiana

Furthermore, according to the FBI’s Uniform Crime Reports, eighteen of the top twenty cities with the highest murder rates are led by Democrats. Sixteen of the top twenty cities with the highest rate of rape or sexual assault are led by Democrats. Seventeen of the top twenty cities with the highest rates of burglary are also led by Democrats. (The consolidated and detailed data for all of these rankings can be sorted and found here).

Pollution

Democrat-led Los Angeles is the most ozone-polluted city in the United States–almost twice as polluted as the next highest city. (Four of the top five cities with the worst ozone levels are in the state of California). In fact, sixteen of the top twenty cities with the worst ozone pollution are led by Democrats, according to the American Lung Association.

Furthermore, six of the top nine most populated cities led by Democrats are graded as a D or F by the American Lung Association for total-year particle pollution. Los Angeles and San Jose lead the way as the most polluted cities. A recent report by KTVU in Sacramento validates the data that points to California having the worst air quality in the United States.

While Californians pay substantially high taxes to support environmental programs, those programs are failing by the most respected measurements in the country.

Poverty

The data tank World Population Review measured poverty in the United States by using census data, and considered the number of residents living in poverty, income rank, and the percentage of the population unemployed within each city. The top ten poorest cities in America, all led by Democrats:

  1. Detroit, MI
  2. Cleveland, OH
  3. Dayton, OH
  4. Hartford, CT
  5. Rochester, NY
  6. Newark, NJ
  7. Jackson, MS
  8. Syracuse, NY
  9. Birmingham, AL
  10. Springfield, MA

Additionally, fifteen of the top twenty cities with the highest poverty rates are led by Democrats, according to Forbes. Fourteen of the top twenty cities with the highest unemployment rates are led by Democrats according to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Population Breakdown

We also researched the top ten most populated cities led by Democrats and the top ten most populated cities led by Republicans, in order to provide a side-by-side comparison of each according to the rate of violent crime, particle pollution, high school graduation, and poverty. In every single category the average of the cities led by Democrats was subordinate to the average of cities led by Republicans.

Math doesn’t lie, it isn’t biased, and it has no political affiliation. Cities led by Democrats are among the most violent, most polluted, most impoverished, and least educated cities in America. Yet, astoundingly, the people living in these cities continue to elect the same party that has enslaved their minds, wallets, health, and individual success for not just years, but decades in many instances.

The progressive ideology doesn’t work for anyone other than the politicians who have grown very wealthy by keeping their constituents ignorant, while pandering to lobbyists who line their pockets. You don’t have to like the facts, but that doesn’t make them untrue. No matter how you sort the data, by straight ranking or by population, it is statistical fact that quality of life is much higher when cities are led by Republicans as opposed to Democrats.

Democrat cities are not failing a result of fossil fuels, COVID, corporate leaders, or Vladimir Putin. They have been failing consistently for a long time due to corrupt and negligent leadership.
